A man convicted of murdering a mother-of-two children and sentenced to life in prison by a district court is now acquitted.
The Dharwad bench of the High Court has ruled that Praveen Bhatt is acquitted of the carnage of mother-of-two children who shook the state.
A three-year-old mother and two children were murdered on August 16, 2015 in Kuvempu, Belagavi. In the incident Reena Malagati, Aditya Malagatti, Sahitya Malakati were murdered. The accused was arrested within 24 hours of the murder.
The Belgaum district district court, which was hearing the case, sentenced Praveen Bhatt to life imprisonment. The High Court had been quizzed over the murder. The Dharwad bench of the High Court has acquitted the accused.

A murderous triple murder was reported on August 16, 2015 in Kuvempu City, Belgaum. The triple murder was attributed to the immoral relationship between Reena and Praveen Bhatt.
Reena Malgatti and young man Praveen Bhatt had developed a friendship in Kuvempu. For two years there was an immoral relationship between the two. Reina then taunted him for trying to bridge the gap. He even threatened to expose the facts of an immoral relationship if he complained to her. This was listed as the cause of the murder.
The second district and Satra court in Belgaum, which had conducted some inquiries into the case, had convicted Praveen Bhat. He was also sentenced to life imprisonment. The sentence of life imprisonment was announced on April 16, 2018. Praveen Bhatt had moved the High Court against the verdict. The trial judge, KS Mudgal, adjudged Praveen Bhatt acquitted by MGS Kamal.
